James woke me for breakfast this morning as promised. First time in a very long time that I can recall actually sleeping through an alarm and having to have someone wake me. Felt pretty good time-zone wise today, although having said that, the memory of breakfast this feels very much like something that happened a few days ago rather than just 15 or 16 hours ago. I'm feeling quite tired now as well, so won't stay at this for too long.
Rather than trudging around in the rain trying to be a good little tourist I decided I'd have a look around the shops for winter clothes. Didn't end up buying a lot, but then it's hard to be motivated here because it feels so much like Sydney or Melbourne in winter. However I had an interesting time wandering around the big department stores like Macy's at Union Square. Didn't bother getting my camera out in the rain, but had to grab a quick pic of Union Square...
... to compare with the one I took of Pyrmont's Union Square a few days ago
... just a running conversation I've had about Sydney's decreasing Christmas decoration efforts over the years. Not that I'm a particular fan of Christmas! Just curious to see the contrasts. Seeing Union Square with Christmas tree next to monument was too good a 'parallel universe' experience for me not to capture.
Well, it's late, so I should get to sleep. Wet again tomorrow, but I'm planning find myself an umbrella that doesn't leak and do a bit of semi-aimless wandering around looking at things.
By the way, the full photo album is available on request... there's just not much in it yet !
